Dr Dre to join Apple as part of Beats buy, report says

By Tech

Apple is after more than just headphones in its rumoured multibillion dollar acquisition of Beats, according to a report suggesting Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine will join the tech giant.

From Compton to Cupertino!!!

This story just keeps unfolding in a great way. Not only is this news big for the Hip/Hop community, but for our country as a whole. This acquisition shows that we are truly making progress in regards to accepting people regardless of their past or their race. And let’s be honest, everyone involved in this acquisition has the potential to make some serious money and that could be the sole motivation. But nonetheless, regardless of the reasoning, the thought of having one of Hip/Hop’s pioneer work side by side with the tech world’s leader of innovation, well…All I can say is there will be a lot of SWAG involved.

Source say the deal is now “70 percent certain” to go through so, Spotify “Watch Out” because Apple’s coming for you head. After all, nobody told you to come into the game and try to steal Apple’s iTunes market share…This should be interesting!!!

Do you think we’ve made progress as a country or is it all about the money?

Mark Cuban admits he’s a racist and a bigot?

By Tech

Mark Cuban, billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks, makes some pretty aggressive comments as it relates to racism and bigotry…

In the interview with Inc, he addresses his disdain for Donald Sterling’s comments and his views on race–which we applaud.

However, then he made references to himself being both prejudice and bigoted to a certain degree; and stated that everyone is.

At Gadgent, we love Mark Cuban as an owner and more so as a self made billionaire, but to make this statement is kind of concerning.

All in all, we respect his honesty and his transparency. It’s tough to have these type of conversations when you live in a “glass house” like he does.

To wrap up, Mark did say that he is committed to ending prejudice. In his businesses, he makes it a point not to only call someone out for hateful acts, but to educate and assist in changing them.

“I’ll try to work with people…I’ll try to give them a chance to improve themselves” Cuban says.

He doesn’t want to just throw someone away, the same way they are. He it truly tryng to make the world a better place.

You’ve got our support Mark…

Apple Testing High Resolutions for iPhone 6

By Apple, Featured, News, Tech

New reports have emerged, indicating that Apple is currently testing the new resolution that will take the iPhone 6 consumers by storm.

Tech Crunch is reporting that Mark Gurman from 9to5Mac has inside information that Apple is testing new resolutions for the iPhone 6, such as 1704 x 960, which is higher than most Xbox One games.

As mentioned in the article…

“Changing the resolution on devices means another incoming transition for developers, but 9to5Mac points out that this one should be very similar to the transition from 1x to 2x mode when the original Retina Display was introduced. Apple has been working on resolution independence according to previous reports, so this could help with the optimization process and make for a smoother transition.”

We won’t know for sure how well this will turn out until the iPhone 6 gets officially announced. This is expected to happen sometime in July.

Don’t trust this email from Google

By #trending, Tech

There’s a dangerous new threat that’s trying to steal your Google password. If you fall for it, hackers will have full access to your Gmail account, YouTube account, Google+ account, Google Search History and any other Google services you use.

From there, they can break try to break into other similar accounts, like Facebook, or pretend to be you to trick your friends and family into giving away important information. So, you definitely don’t want to fall for this one.

THE THREAT

The threat arrives in the form of an email, supposedly from Google. The subject line varies, but it’s some form of “Mail Notice” or “Lookout Notice.”

The body of the email says this:

GOOGLE MAIL NOTICE

This is a reminder that your email account will be locked out in 24hours

Due to not being able to increase your Email storage Quota

Go to the INSTANT INCREASE to increase your Email storage automatically. INSTANT INCREASE

=================================

Sincerely Gmail Team,

Copyright ©2014 Gmail. All rights reserved.

In the real email, the words “Instant increase” are linked. If you click the link, you’ll end up on a page that looks like the Google login page.

However, if you put in your username and password, they’ll be sent right to the hackers behind the email. Then they have full access to your Google account. One thing that makes this message especially dangerous is the link itself. It’s designed to bypass Chrome and Firefox’s normal checks for phishing links, so you won’t get a warning.

HOW YOU KNOW THE EMAIL IS FAKE

As I demonstrated when I pointed out 5 things wrong with this email from Amazon, there are a few giveaways that this email isn’t real.

Spelling isn’t really an issue this time around, but the grammar isn’t up to the standards of the one of the most profitable companies in history.

There’s no Google logo and the From address says “Gmail,” but isn’t a Google domain name (i.e. there’s no “google.com” in it).

Finally, as always, Google will never ask you to click in a link in an email. It will tell you to go to Google.com to sign in and where to go to fix your account settings. This is true of any major company.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU GET THIS EMAIL

Obviously, don’t click on the link. Instead, just delete the email and continue on with your day. Opening the email won’t hurt anything, so don’t panic.

If you got this email and fell for it, then you need to immediately change your Google account password. You should also change the passwords of any other accounts that used the same password. Click here to learn how to create strong and unique passwords.

In the future, any unsolicited email you receive that has a suspicious link or attachment, you can just delete. If you aren’t sure whether or not it’s real, go to the company’s website to get its contact information.

Then call the company, or individual, to confirm if the email is legitimate. Don’t use contact information in the email itself.

Square Branches Out Into Food Ordering Service

By Apple, Google (Android), News, Tech

May 14, 2014

American mobile payments company Square has expanded its services with the launch of Square Order. Supporting businesses of all sizes and perfect for restaurants, the service allows users to pay for food pickups and tabs directly from their smartphones. Users simply locate their purveyor of choice using the app, place an order, and pay in advance; the app then alerts the user when the order is ready for pickup.

Though similar to other “order ahead” services, Square Order has a huge advantage in that it already supplies merchants with payment systems – meaning that since there is no third party involved, there are no additional fees associated with ordering food using the app. Square Order is now available to download from the App Store – as well as in beta form from Google Play – and is currently limited to San Francisco and New York City.

BMW i Solar Carport Concept

By Cars, Lifestyle, Tech

May 11th, 2014

In keeping with its quest for offering environment-friendly alternatives to its main line of vehicles, such as the i3 and i8, BMW unveils a brand new concept that takes efficiency a step further. Demoed in California by BMW Group DesignworksUSA, the carport is constructed using carbon fiber, bamboo (due to its quick-growing attributes), and features a roof made entirely out of solar panels. Made to supplement the Wallbox Pro charging system while taking some of the load off the grid, the Carport is nowhere near as powerful as the current wall charging system and is only really appealing to those who live in areas that are perpetually sunny. No news yet on if this will be an option for i-vehicle owners in the future, but it will be interesting to see what other automobile manufacturers come up with in terms of at-home charging solutions.
